Coming Soon: A Little Orchestra in Mile End, with Banana and Louie, Lisa Bouvier & Model Village

The lovely Librarians Wanted present an album launch party for Banana and Louie, aka Matt and Sarah from A Fine Day for Sailing, with support from Lisa Bouvier, Model Village and our very own A Little Orchestra. All this will take place at The Victoria, Mile End, on September the 7th. Entry will be free. I tentatively predict multiple interlinked collaborations between the evenings various acts.

For updates and more information, do check in at the Librarians Wanted Tumblr or the Facebook event page.

In the meantime, see and hear members of A Little Orchestra in this library-set video for the title track to Banana and Louie's album, Alphabet Soup.

An Evening with A Little Orchestra

How Does It Feel To Be Loved presents a whole evening in the company of Kilburn's favourite twelve-piece orchestral ensemble, A Little Orchestra.

The event will take place on the 26th of January, from half past seven until around eleven, at the Buffalo Bar, just outside Highbury & Islington tube station.

The orchestra will be set up and playing throughout the night and joined by several guest singers and other instrumentalists, including . . . Shirley Lee (of Spearmint), Haiku Salut, Simon from The Loves, and Matt and Sharon from A Fine Day for Sailing.

The evening will be topped off by a performance from The Madrigals, a five piece from London, influenced in equal parts by traditional English folk and Electrelane.

Tickets cost £4 in advance (link) or £5 on the door. Don't forget to tell the Big Other you will be coming.

After eleven years as everyone's favourite rock'n'roll rah rah band, The Loves are withdrawing from active service - and celebrating the receipt of their metaphorical gold watch with a fine show off. For this, their last ever performance, they will be joined on stage by Claire, Jill, Matt, Nat and Rosie, the string section from A Little Orchestra.

Saturday 19 March – London

Save Our Libraries @ Nettlefold Hall, West Norwood Library, 1-5 Norwood High Street, SE27 9JX

In protest against proposed cuts to over 1000 local libraries across the UK (including Lambeth's finest), A Little Orchestra will be performing a typically eclectic mix in the time honoured tradition of The Portsmouth Sinfonia and the Boston Pops, joined on guest vocals by a variety of illustrious friends.

Ticket details will be announced soon.
