This has probably been my favourite of Rose's songs ever since I saw her with the full band for the first time up at the Old Queen's Head. It makes me think of The Sundays, Broadcast, Francoise Hardy, torch songs from the 1930's, film noir. This recorded version has a very nice slur in the high string part at the end. The whole thing's very big. Which is very good. The video reminds me of old My Bloody Valentine videos except that, unlike most pop videos, or even most films these days, it does appear to have been directed by someone who actually watches films, and not just pop videos.
